Organizing for Farmworker Justice: A webinar panel

Recently, the Washington State Senate and House voted to pass legislation that marks an important win for protecting the rights of H-2A farmworkers who are integral to the state’s agricultural production.

Community to Community, Farmworkers Association of Florida, and Food First are hosting an online panel to discuss how organizers successfully took on corporate growers and pushed legislators to enact protections for H-2A farmworkers, moving just one step closer to farmworker justice in Washington state.

“This is not the original bill we wanted, but it is still a viable process that will help us fight for justice for farmworkers that are here already in Washington state but also protect the 30,000 guestworkers that growers are planning to bring in. Ultimately what we hope for is a food system that works for everybody,” said Rosalinda Guillen, Executive Director of Community to Community Development (C2C).

Join us July 8th at 10:30 AM Pacific Time for the online panel featuring perspectives from Edgar Franks (C2C), Maureen Darras (C2C), and Nezahualcoyotl Xiuhtecutli (FWAF) to learn more about the organizing effort and how these strategies might be implemented beyond Washington State across the country.
