Justine Williams joins Food First as coordinator of the Land Justice: Reimagining Land, Food and the Commons project. She has worked and studied food systems and agrarian justice for the past ten years. She was previously Research and Policy Analyst for the oceans and fisheries program at Food & Water Watch and has worked on various action-research projects in North Carolina to rebuild local, just food economies. Most recently, she lived for over a year in Sancti Spíritus, Cuba where she conducted research on knowledge transmission and network building with permaculture and agroecology activists.
Justine currently resides in Berkeley, CA. She holds an MA and is a PhD candidate in anthropology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
