Each year the global population increases about 1% and we grow enough food globally to feed everyone. So why are 2.3 billion people, or nearly 28% of the global population hungry and malnourished?
The Institute for Food and Development Policy, or Food First, exists to address the underlying causes of global hunger and poverty. We appeal to governments and businesses to adopt solutions that make food more affordable and accessible.
But lasting change is built from the ground up. We believe listening to and learning from the wisdom of local communities is the best way to build sustainable food systems that prioritize people over corporate profits.
The Food First: Amplifying Grassroots Voices in Food Justice graphic novel reflects findings from the WriteShop Research Study. The Indigenous and minority food growers, along with food system advocates who participated in the research study demonstrate together, we can achieve a world without hunger!
Help Us Amplify More Stories Like these. Your gift supports community-led research, translation, visual storytelling, and grassroots-led solutions. Let’s transform food systems together.
