Robbie Pollard
Robbie Pollard is a Mississippi native and a graduate of Florida International University in Miami, Florida, with a BS in Management of Information Systems. Feeling burnt out from a career in IT, Robbie started attending farming workshops, networking with older farmers, reading books on sustainable agriculture, and working alongside the Alcorn State Extension Program to learn how to grow food sustainably. Robbie is the owner of Start 2 Finish Farms, LLC, and the Founder and President of the Happy Foods Project, Inc, a grassroots 501c(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to promote community development in Rural Mississippi by increasing access to healthy, aordable local foods and strengthening socially disadvantaged farmers’ livelihoods. Through the Happy Foods Project, Robbie works hand in hand with five other farmers providing them with some of the resources they need to have a successful farming career. Robbie’s fellow’s project, The Happy Foods Project Agripreneurship Initiative, aims to contribute to the local food system in the Mississippi Delta and establish three coordinated market opportunities for small-scale farmers. The Happy Foods Project is partnering with the University of Mississippi on a pilot Food RX program to deliver fresh produce boxes tailored to homebound patients.
